We at Adriatic Adventures are aware of the negative impacts tourism can have and therefore we are committed to organising and running activity tours that have minimum impact on the local environment, communities, wildlife, marine ecosystems, culture and resources. At all times the company and its partner agencies will endeavour to cause as little pollution and disturbance to the local environment as possible and will practice ecological and responsible methods of operating our tours. Where possible we will actively support local businesses and communities and encourage our clients to do likewise during their time in the country in which they are visiting. Economic responsibility Our policy, is that wherever possible, we will make use of local or family run hotels, guesthouses and private apartments, restaurants, transport services and activity providers which allows our guests to be welcomed by a local host and to experience home cooked cuisines typical of the region. This in turn also helps to generate incomes and sustain employment in these areas where there maybe a significant economic drift of people to the larger towns and cities where employment is more readily available. Environmental responsibility Our tours are intended to allow our clients to visit the more of the beaten track locations, often visiting remote rural and mountainous areas, thus benefitting those communities. We always insist that our local providers are conscious of the need to preserve the natural settings in which we work, not just for the future of our company and theirs, but also for future travellers to enjoy for many years to come. We keep our groups small so that any impact on the environment is minimized and where possible use non-motorised equipment and methods of transport during our tours to keep damaging emissions and pollution to a minimum. The kayaks we use are made of recyclable plastic and do not cause any form of air, water or noise pollution which could be harmful to marine life. We insist that all litter and rubbish is removed from any of the areas in which we operate, and strongly encourage group transfers, reducing the amount of traffic on the roads. We also try and educate our clients, making them aware of their obligation to the environment and the local communities. Social responsibility We also encourage our clients to respect the lives and cultures of local residents by learning a few simple words such as Hello and Goodbye, Please and Thank You and to learn about the their lives and backgrounds, the history of the region and where possible to get involved in local events.
