Itinerary
Day
1
Kotor, Prcanj: Transfer from the airport to the Boka Bay and
the Riviera of Kotor. Arrive in your hotel and relax in one
of the most beautiful bays in the world and Europe's southernmost
fjord. Be seduced by the lights of Kotor and the mysteries beyond
the city gates.
Day
2
Old
Town of Kotor and San Giovanni Fortress: Enjoy the incredible
surroundings and explore the narrow cobblestone streets, ancient
houses and picturesque squares. Walk back in time to the great
Kotor San Giovanni fortress which will offer spectacular views
along the steep sided bay. Later in the afternoon there's time
to relax by the pool watching the calm, reflective sea of the
Kotor bay shimmer in the moonlight.
Day
3
Hiking
to Lovcen Mountain: First, we will visit the birthplace of the
greatest Montenegrin poet-ruler, Njegos, in the village of Njegusi
and begin to explore the glorious history of Montenegro. Next,
climb the steps to Njegos' tomb at the peak of Jezerski Vrh
on Lovcen mountain. From this spectacular vantage point it's
possible to see half of Montenegro spread out before you - stunning
vistas of the mountains and the lakes and coastline that define
this country and its people.
Day
4
From
Kotor we will travel to Vrmac hill through some of Montenegro's
most beautiful scenery, passing small farming villages and truly
unspoilt countryside. You will learn about the uses of indigenous
herbs and the simple beauty of rural architecture, a testament
to the talents of local people. In Lastva village, located on
the top of the hill Gornja, you will see a magnificent view
of two historic churches: St. Marije (14th century) which has
a beautiful altar made of white Karas and green marble, and
St. Vida church (9th century).
Day
5
The
day begins with a scenic boat cruise on the Skadarsko Lake,
a paradise for nature lovers as it is the largest bird reserve,
and one of the rarest natural environments in Europe. You will
then experience
the exhilarating drive and breathtaking views
on route to the mountains, before reaching the Moraca Monastery
where you will learn the stories behind this majestic medieval
monument. After checking into the hotel, there will be time
to enjoy the pure mountain air and go for a stroll, taking in
the spectacular views of mountains, orchards, rivers and lakes.
Day
6
The
inland part of the tour commences in the small and charming
mountain town of Kolasin. A visit to Kolasin would be incomplete
without experiencing the Biogradska Gora National
Park,
home to one of only three surviving virgin forests in Europe
and the second oldest National Park in the world after Yellowstone
in North America. Discover an incredible variety of vegetation
and enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding area from the
shores of the glacial fed Biogradsko Lake and Bendovac Peak
rising above it.
Day
7
Indulge
your desire for nature and knowledge of a
naturally sustainable ecosystem,
and discover an old traditional life set up high in the Komovi
mountains. In addition to the katun experience, the scenic hikes
to the summit of the Vasojevicki Kom Peak make this trip a gratifying
alpine escape.
